Program areas at Sullivan 180
To accomplish its mission, Sullivan 180 works with partner organizations, municipalities, schools, and communities through a grassroots approach of civic engagement. It offers grants, technical assistance, and a variety of programs and resources to support the efforts and initiatives of its community to enhance health outcomes. The Empowering a Healthier Generation (EHG) Program is the flagship program of Sullivan 180 that engages school districts in Sullivan County, NY in promoting health and wellness among students, staff, parents, and their communities. The goal of this program is to create a grassroots movement that will change policy and environments, while demonstrating that individuals and families have an important role to play in building a culture of health for themselves and the next generation. Efforts focus on access to healthy food and physical activity as well as social and emotional wellness. The Organization also works with municipalities on the creation and care of public spaces. Sullivan 180 offers internships and has been a leader in a movement around nutrition in schools and farm to school. It also offers several evidence-based prevention programs, and works to engage and empower Community Health Champions to support the delivery of these programs.
