Program areas at Sullivan County Farm Bureau
Public policy programs in order to protect & promote the agriculture industry the Sullivan co Farm Bureau through its structure of volunteer leaders supports public policy efforts at the local, state, & national level. This is accomplished through both legislative & regulatory monitoring communications with members & public awareness programs about farming & rural life and provide information about the agriculture industry. Volunteer board members participate in the sponsorship of meet the candidate activities and yearly policy meetings with their legislators to educate them about ag policy & how the industry is impacted by lawmakers.
Youth leadership activities the Sullivan County Farm Bureau supports youth ag organizations both financially and with volunteer hours. The organization is a primary sponsor to youth agriculture organizations in the County such as the ffa and is also a large sponsor of the 4h steer show. The County also holds a County Farm day where around 400 2nd grade students attend and learn the importance of agriculture and where their food and fiber comes from and how much of a role agriculture products enhance their everyday lives.
Agriculture leadership activities the Sullivan County Farm Bureau structure of organizational leadership provides many opportunities for member leaders to keep abreast of issues that affect agriculture. Local board members attend organizational & educational meetings each month. They participate in other local agricultural civic & community organizations. Leaders attend district, state, & national conferences to network with farmers & other agriculturalists to learn about current issues facing agriculture. A highly developed committee structure provides leadership opportunities for members through meeetings regular communications and agricultural activities.
