The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad (SVFAS) is an independent, private,non-profit corporation dedicated to providing 24-hour response to medical emergency calls in the city of Summit, NJ and the surround- -ing area. SVFAS is the only emergency ambulance service in Summit, providing basic life support to those who are injured,sick, or in need of medical attention. SVFAS is a 100% volunteer organization, and it provides its services at no charge to patients. Funding for SVFAS is raised from local private donations.Though not a city agency, SVFAS works with the Summit City Governement, Fire and Police depart- ments, as well as County and State OEM Ofiices. SVFAS responded to 2300+ calls in 2023.
