Program areas at SHARE
The headstart program provides comprehensive health, educational, nutritional, social, and other services to economically disadvantaged children and their families. Approximately 1,092 children and their families were served by this program during the past year.
Share offers several primary programs. The community services block grant provides direct crisis intervention designed to promote economic stability to at risk households whose basic security needs are threatened, to reduce undue hardships and threats to health and well being of eligible households through emergency intervention for eviction, prevention, medication, and utility assistance, transportation, and child care and to facilitate opportunities to households in greenville, anderson, oconee and pickens counties of south carolina to become self-sufficient relative to education, employment, housing and health care. Approximately 585 families were served this year.
The low-income energy assistance program "liheap" enables the state of south carolina to provide financial assistance to eligible homeowners to help offset the rising cost of home energy and energy conservation. Approximately 5,683 families received this assistance this past year.
