Program areas at SFC

Food Access & Education: The Food Access & Education program advances our goal of serving low income and at-risk communities by increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables as well as educating families on ways to establish lifelong healthy diets. Our services provided are: Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) incentives for SNAP and WIC clients to purchase fresh produce, The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre cooking/nutrition education classes aim to reduce barriers for families to address their long-term food security in a healthy, culturally appropriate and affordable way.
Policy & Advocacy: The food system strategy and policy program supports our work with both producers and consumers, formalizing our advocacy work that champion healthy-food incentives and regenerative agriculture.
The Farm Viability program fosters climate resiliency and health in Central Texas by promoting regenerative practices with small to mid-sized growers and offering business support to farmers to enable them to thrive and preserve farmland for future generations. We have two weekly farmers markets and a vibrant supply chain initiative that matches our network of producers with a growing cohort of wholesale buyers.
