Program areas at SFC

Food Access & Education: The Food Access & Education program advances our goal of serving low-income and at-risk communities by increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables and educating families on ways to establish lifelong healthy diets. Our services provided are: Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) incentives for SNAP and WIC clients to purchase fresh produce, The Happy Kitchen/La Cocina Alegre cooking/nutrition education classes aim to reduce barriers for families to address their long-term food security in a healthy, culturally appropriate and affordable way.
Policy & Advocacy: The food system strategy and policy program supports our work with both producers and consumers, formalizing our advocacy work that champions healthy food incentives and regenerative agriculture.
Farm Market and Value Chain Viability: The Farm Viability program fosters climate resiliency and health in Central TX by promoting regenerative practices with small to mid-sized growers and offering business support to farmers to enable them to thrive and preserve farmland for future generations. We have two weekly farmers' markets and a vibrant supply chain initiative that matches our network of producers with a growing cohort of wholesale buyers.
