Program areas at Svhome Action Fund
Civic engagement - in partnership with other organizations, the sv@homSvhomeme Action Fund (Action Fund) continued to conduct public education, organizing, and advocacy throughout santa clara county regarding the history of exclusionary housing policies and practices and steps that could be taken at the state and local level to provide redress while expanding housing supply and stability throughout the region. The Action Fund provided information about housing policy-making, coalition-building, and campaigning to current and potential future civic leaders. The Action Fund conducted non-partisan voter engagement activities including voter registration, encouragement to vote (a.k.a. Get-out-the-vote) drives, and hosting public forums for candidates for public office to express their views.legislative advocacy - since its inception, the Action Fund has championed state legislation that seeks to improve and expand the availability of affordable housing and related needs. The Action Fund's legislative advocacy program ranges from participating in lobbying days of Action with partners, writing letters of support or opposition to legislative proposals, convening discussions with local and state elected and civic leaders as well as participating in regional pro-housing coalitions. The Action Fund circulated questionnaires to candidates for several public offices, and published the responses. This comprised less than 10% of Action Fund staff time and expenditures in 2022.
