Program areas at Taller Puertorriqueno

Outreach: outreach program involves a number of programs that educate and support Taller's mission of promoting puerto rican and latino culture. Examples are: - memories in the making, a collaboration with the Delaware valley chapter of the alzheimer's association, is an innovative art therapy program that enables latino persons with dementia to express themselves through art. - visitenos (visit us) occurs both on- and off-site and offers k-12 grade students and teachers exploration of latino cultures that meet the criteria of philadelphia school district arts standards and multicultural competencies.
Visual arts program (vap): Taller has four to six exhibits each of emerging and renowned artists at the lorenzo homar gallery as well as arranging for residencies that include work with Taller's program participants and area schools. Outside exhibits at our education building, congreso de latinos, unidos, the philadelphia foundation, and chester university, to name a few, have dramatically widened our audiences.
Education program: the organization brings arts programming and educational alternatives to our neighborhood children, often at no cost to community residents. The organization's education curriculum features year round activities, including: arts instruction, after school tutoring, traditional dance classes and so much more.
