The Women and Health Program uses a feminist framework to promote women's access to comprehensive healthcare and gender-based violence prevention, through three projects: Your Peace Matters, Community Health Workers and Reproductive Justice Youth Cohort. During this period the Women and Health Program was launched a youth leadership training bootcamp, educational campaigns on racism and gender-based violence, circles of support for women and the expansion of gender-based victim services with a 24/7 hotline, legal services for survivors and the creation of the PR's East Regional Task Force to end gender-based violence.
The Community and Leadership Program' s goal is to strengthen the coordinated response capacity of local community leadership in the search for common solutions for their families and the communities through education, participatory processes and advocacy through three permanent campaigns: Food Security, Affordable Housing and Environmental Justice. During this period, the Community and Leadership Program strengthened community ties with mutual support distributions to address the needs of vulnerable populations. Also, this program launched an Economic Development project that distributed seed capital to local small businesses and a Respite project to support local caregivers of older adults and bedridden people. Campaigns on access to affordable housing and climate and land justice strengthened island-wide conversations about the needs of our communities.
The Peace and Development program seeks to organize the community to end poverty, inequality and structural racism. We seek to promote a culture of peace and community reconciliation that allows for greater individual and collective opportunities for development and transformation through two projects: Peace Accord and La Tribu Youth Cohort. During this period, The Peace and Development program launched the Racial Justice Action Table, a movement building effort to strengthen the campaign to eradicate community violence and structural racism. The Peace Accord project was responsible for an 80% reduction in community violence through a street outreach and violence interruption strategy. In order to strengthen access to capital for youth-at risk, an employment special project was developed for program participants. Educational campaigns led by the La Tribu Youth Cohort have spearheaded conversations about youth justice, racism and public safety in the island.
