We held our signature fundraising event to celebrate the outstanding contributions of the 2023 woman and man of the year.we celebrated with acknowledgements of honorees cultural background - puerto rico & colombia. We had over 325 guests attending with the opportunity to network and celebrate the occasion. We had 6-8 volunteers for this event.
Essay contest - middle and high school students had the opportunity to write about a pre-determined topic. The top 3 students in each category (in english & spanish)have the opportunity to win cash prizes. This year's topic was: understanding latinx: what it means and its significance for hispanics today. Submissions were limited and 6 students were deemed deserving of recognition. Total award was 900.
Leadership class - this signature event allows the organization to recognize community members in seven areas (business, education, public service, health, media, arts and civics) for their excellence in their field. In addition, we have the "orgullo award", given to a non-hispanic for their support to and on behalf of the Hispanic community.
Poster contest - unfortunately, we did not have any submissions for the 2023 poster contest. Hence, we opted to create a poster containing a montage of posters that had been submitted to our organization since 1987.
