Program areas at Team Booger
Teaching Kids Leadership Guidance: We taught the kids leadership guidance and general awareness of their impact on the world through three major events throughout the year along with some smaller things at races. At the Carry5 Booger event we taught kids the fact that many individuals carry five gallon jugs to and from their communities because of lack of water infrastructure. We taught them how they can be leaders in their community in teaching, understanding, and raising funds. This was reiterated at our Booger Camp in August as well as various Zoom calls. At Booger Camp we teach skills around understanding, giving back, and philanthropy along with lots of bike riding. This year we also launched the Little Booger Clinics that teaches kids 4-12 basic bike skills and giving back to their community. We actively teach the kids good eating and nutrition habits throughout the year along with two major events. One is a zoom call where we talk them through proper fueling and hydration for riding. We also tach them about the balance of carbs and proteins. At Booger Camp we do an additional clinic around electrolytes and proper pre- and post-race fueling. This was taught by a board member.
Making a Difference Scholarship: We launched the Making a Difference Scholarship this year which awarded scholarships to kids in college or entering college. We awarded seven scholarships at $2,000 a piece.
Race and Training Support: The team provides race and training support throughout the year. We actively race and are at events with a tent, staff, and equipment to support our riders. We are at around fifty races a year. This is done via the Booger Fund van, tents, tools and supplies.
