TeamLift, Inc. and St. Mary's Secondary School for Girls graduated its fourth class of 143 students in July 2023. Ninety-nine percent of the graduates passed the Malawi's college entrance exam. St. Mary's Secondary remains one of the highest-ranked educational institutions in the country, and remains commited to educating young women whose families struggle economically. TeamLift and its partners currently support more than 160 young women in Malawi colleges. They will be joined in 2024 by an additional 72 St. Mary's graduates. TeamLift dug 33 boreholes in the final months of 2023 in rural villages in the Karonga District and is scheduled to dig an additional 100 boreholes in 2024. The NGO is awaiting equipment for its hospital and clinic in Zombwe and is expanding its nutrition program to grow more legumes and plant-based proteins. Engineering and nursing students from the University of Portland spent a month seeking community input for potential projects, repairing the irrigation system at St. Mary' farm, and conducting eye exams at secondary schools, Miracle Technical College and a number of remote villages.
