Program areas at Ten Thousand Things Theater
Ten Thousand Things awakens the creative spirit of audiences and artists by bringing essential and exceptional theater to people from all backgrounds and life experiences.Ten Thousand Things continued to balance a full season of in-person programming with options for virtual engagement for all productions in our 22-23 season to allow for varying levels of safety and comfort for patrons. We began the season with a production of Euripides IPHIGENIA AT AULIS made available for in-person showings at outdoors park settings as well as indoors at Luminary Arts in Minneapolis. We followed with the third annual TEN THOUSAND VOICES program, highlighting community-written offerings on the theme of water, presented at Westminster Church. In the winter we produced Lynn Nottages MLIMAS TALE, re-engaging our touring model for the first time since the Covid pandemic, presenting half of the shows for free at community partner venues serving people who do not have easy access to live, professional theater. The other half of the shows were performed for paying public at Open Book in Minneapolis. The season concluded with a production of Morgan Lloyd Malcolms EMILIA, again presented to both paying public audiences and in a free community tour across the Twin Cities. The season attracted critical acclaim and strong audience turnout. In addition to seeing an up-tick in our number of paying patrons, throughout the season we were able to serve audience members in the Twin Cities Metro area at correctional facilities, ELL centers, senior centers, youth-serving centers, rehabilitation centers, and organizations serving people with disabilities.
