Program areas at Tending the Soil MN
Tending the Soil is an alignment of five, power building non-profits and labor organizations representing more than 10,000 minnesotans led by working class, bipoc community leaders with a long history of effective and equitable organizing. We worked with these five groups to align their campaign objectives around a shared timeline to have the best possible impact for their members.
Through 2023, Tending the Soil trained and fostered leadership development among staff and members at our five aligment organizations.
A major project that recieved great attention and advancement is our effort to build the rise up center, a workforce development center, community gather space and administrative office hub. Since january 1, 2023 Tending the Soil MN and our project partners have defined the scope of the rise up center building use, governance structure and entered a purchase agreement to acquire the former ywca uptown at, 2808 hennepin ave in minneapolis.
