Program areas at Tennessee Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation
The closing the gap cohort has 48 pharmacies participating in 30 counties across Tennessee. During 2022, the cohort has documented 698 patient vaccination assessments (of these 6557 new patient visits) and administered 443 vaccines.
The tprn program provides a peer assistance program consisting of consultation, prevention, referral, monitoring and advocacy services for pharmacy professionals who are impaired, suffer from substance use disorder involving alcohol or other drugs, or have mental health issues. Tprn served 89 individuals during the 2022 contract year.
Through funding from the cdc, the Tennessee Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation (tpref) has helped to support pharmacist-provided services that aid in the identification, prevention, and management of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Over this grant cycle, 2018-2023, we have worked with 101 Pharmacists at 38 pharmacies that either provide medication therapy management services to patients with diabetes or identified, initiated treatment, and improved management of patients with previously undiagnosed or untreated hypertension and hypercholesteremia, or both. At year-end 2022, these pharmacies provided care to a total of 20,337 patients.
Tpref provides various Education programs including osha webinars, immunization certification, and continuing Education for Pharmacists through tpce.
