Program areas at Terasaki Nibei Foundation
Meetings were held to promote social intercourse and fellowship among japanese and japanese american doctors and professors. Some of the japanese doctors are in america temporarily to continue their post-doctoral training. Lectures on various general topics of interest were given, study group of different topics of research, and tours of hospitals in the los angeles area. Socialization programs were conducted for recently arrived doctors and their families from japan to help them adjust to life in the united states. Education about american life and culture was provided through activities. Due to the pandemic fewer meetings were held. There were a few virtual events. For the year, there were 141 participants and on average 28 people attended the monthly meetings and events.
Various classes and programs conducted to further the advancement of japanese-american cultural relations. Starting in 2013, the Foundation established a lecture event series, "Nibei powerful networking meeting lecture series". These events promote networking within the japanese-american community by offering various lectures and meetings related to japanese american culture. This year due to the pandemic shutdown the japan study club hosted only virtual events, held contests via the website with 39 participants and published monthly newsletters to 645 subscribers.
Class fees revenue are fees collected from students attending the lecture series events at the cultural center.
Meetings fees revenue are fees collected from members of the nichibei doctors club for attending monthly meetings.
