Program areas at Texas Association of City and County Health Officials
Annual conference - taccho holds an annual education conference for its membership to increase the knowledge, skills and abilities of directors and their staff to access, plan, develop, implement and evaluate public Health programs in their communities.
All other programs - taccho collaborated with partner organizations to inform the public and its members on the following topics: 1) County Health rankings - a national program that ranks each County in a state on their status of Health factors and 2) public Health accreditation - a national program that accredits public Health departments based on whether they meet specified standards for practice and 3) the Texas publice Health coalition - a coalition of organizations focused on advocating for sound public Health policy and practice.
Memberships - taccho is committed to public Health practice in local communities and assisting members in reaching their goals. As advocates for the Health and well-being of texans, taccho functions as an information resource by monitoring and researching public Health news, laws, trends and related actions to keep members updated on the events that effect their everyday operations. Members utilize and share best public Health practices, including, but not limited to, disease surveillance, disease prevention and control, public Health infrastructure and accreditation preparation, obesity, chronic disease, education and prevention, heart Health and awareness, emergency preparedness and response and public Health education.
