Program areas at Texas Central Hemophilia Association
The organization provides a variety of education programs throughout the year in english and spanish to promote comprehensive and proactive treatment for those affected by an inheritable bleeding disorder. Focused programming and peer-support groups for newly diagnosed families, couples, young adults, men, women, and those living in rural communities are provided via virtual and in-person events. The organization publishes and distributes a newsletter 3x/year as well as monthly online education emails.
The organization provides individual support to families within the bleeding disorders community who are experiencing economic hardships in the form of emergency assistance grants, travel grants for medical appointments and education events. Scholarships for young adults pursuing higher education programs are also awarded. Nonfinancial support is provided in the form of case management support to connect a family with a needed service or provider.
Working with other state and national non-profit organizations, texcen advocates for affordable, equitable access to healthcare for the bleeding disorders community. Texcen provides on-going training and education to community members to advocate on issues surrounding insurance, medicaid, and polices that create barriers to access to care.
