Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network (TMMSN)

Our Stranding response program provided service through response to 136 individual Stranding events. TMMSN provided rescue and relocationcare or euthanasia for live stranded animals as required. 51 volunteers donated 1,683 hours to this program. Additionally, important data was collected from dead stranded individuals for research and to inform natural resource managers for conservation management. TMMSN response to dead strandings included data collection and dissemination sample analyses and archival, necropsy investigations for animal and human health information. Findings and conservation measures and techniques are reported to the public through informal and formal education settings.
