The Albany Damien Center enhances the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS in an affirming environment and reduces new infections in the communities it serves. Its community center provides services to over 300 persons affected by HIV/AIDS, with 88% of members achieving HIV viral suppression. The smart meals program served over 31,000 meals and 1,261 nutrition education sessions to individuals facing food insecurity, while the employment pathways program provided more than 1,355 employment services.

Program areas at The Albany Damien Center

Housing/community Center - in 2022, The Albany Damien Center provided services to over 300 persons affected by hiv/aids. 96% of members who had a viral load lab test achieved hiv viral suppression, a key medical indicator of a person with aids' health.the Center's housing program provided safe and stable housing for 42 individuals living with hiv/aids who were homeless or unstably housed and provided other supportive services such as case management, peer support, counseling, skills-building, employment assistance, access to medical care, and pharmacy services. We estimate The taxpayer savings from housing to be between 1m and 2.1m from these efforts in 2022 alone. Our mpower program provided 320 health & human services to 61 persons from our lgbtq+ community.
Paws - The Center's paws program (pets are wonderful support), provided support for very low-income pet owners to ensure they are never separated from their companion animals, providing food, supplies and assistance with care for over 80 individuals and 90 pets in 2022.
Wellness - The smart meals program served over 27,250 meals and provided 1,080 nutrition education sessions to individuals facing food insecurity. The employment pathways program provided employment services to help members return to work and school, while providing assistance with benefits analysis and budgeting, resume writing, interview skills and job placement. The behavior health program provided over 859 services to 118 members living with serious health conditions and trauma.
