Program areas at The Albuquerque Council for International Visitors
The United States Department of State sponsors and funds the organization through the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) whose mission is to strengthen U.S. engagement with countries around the world and cultivate lasting relationships by connecting current and emerging foreign leaders with their American counterparts through short-term visits to the United States. During the fiscal year ended December 31, 2021, 219 international visitors in 19 different virtual programs were hosted by The Albuquerque Council for International Visitors dba Global Ties ABQ. Since the pandemic started, we didnt host more international visitor in person. We started conducting virtual programming for our groups in September 2020. We are currently hosting to back in person projects. Additionally, this fiscal year, Global Ties ABQ continued to connect our local community through various virtual sessions. In March 2022, Global Ties ABQ incorporated the programing of Global One to Onea 501c 3 organization. This allowed Global Ties ABQ to explore the possibility of adding a youth focused exchange component to its programs. Though substantial funds were raised for these youth focused programs it was ultimately determined that the programs could not generate enough funding to support the staffing needed to deliver the exchanges. In February 2023 Global Ties ABQ and Global One to One decided to part ways.
