Newborn support: The organization raises awareness about diaper need, advocates nationally and donated 765,625 free diapers in 2022 to families who struggle with diaper need through a network of 60 partnerships across long island. Currently, there is no safety net program (not snap, wic, or medicaid) that allocates dollars for their purchases. The organization is The only long island member of The national diaper bank network and The baby2baby network. 2. Period supply bank: The organization raises awareness, advocates nationally to bring real change, and donated 182,398 period supplies in 2022, free of charge to those in need. The organization believes that no student should have to miss school, no adult should have to miss work, and no person should miss out on daily life because they are unable to afford The necessities they require to manage their menstrual health. The organization is The only long island member of The alliance for period supplies.3. Early childhood literacy: aims to help babies and children foster a love of reading, help them develop a rich vocabulary to help them learn, grow, and develop. The organization donated 5,450 books in 2022 through our reach out and read practices which integrates reading aloud in pediatric care and sends The family home with age-appropriate books for their home library. The organization also collects thousands of children's books annually to support in need communities across The ny metro area.4. Andrew fierstein memorial award: The andrew fierstein memorial award was created to honor The memory of andrew fierstein, his accomplishments and recognize those who shared his passion for medicine, community service and a desire to help and heal others by becoming a physician. The award seeks to realize his dream, his passion for medicine, and help those already on The path. Annually, The award is presented to a pediatric resident enrolled in an accredited new york pediatric training program.
