Benefits: provides a variety of monthly socialization activities for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Activities increase consumer's ability to interact with peers and others in The community. Activities include monthly socialization events, job skills training, and social skills training.
Self advocate- served 62 unduplicated clients with 409 service hours. Benefits: facilitates The "southeast Texas self advocates" (a group of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 18 and up) who learn how to run and organization, promote self-advocacy, leadership, and education. Regular meetings are held and host a topic and or speaker that broadens self-awareness and empowers adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be active in their community. Self-advocates also attend annual conferences and visit with local and state legislatures.
Children & family services- served 232 unduplicated clients with 558 service hours. Benefits: provides services to families and/or caregivers of children birth through 18 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Services include, information and referrals for families and caregivers; support group for families of children with autism; support group for families of children with down syndrome; "family fun days" full of activities for families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; summer day camps for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities; stipend program for children to receive funding for summer services; annual day long educational conferences for parents and caregivers of children with intellectual and developmental
