The Ballard House Project, Inc. Ongoing research work and tour group presentations for students and adults focus on documenting and sharing The contributions of african-americans within The human and civil rights narrative of The 1950s and 1960s as well as early resistance movement events in The history of The metropolitan area, and The role of The community in The growth, development, and progress toward justice in birmingham and Alabama.
Continued installation, plant replenishment, and maintenance of The Project, beautification of The cemetery burial sites of The four girls who lost their lives in The 1963 church bombing. Continued use of funds provided by a grant from The jack and jill of america foundation and funds provided by The Ballard House Project, Inc. This Project began in 2020 and continues through 2022 and is completed in 2023 in time for The 60th commemoration of The church bombing.
Program services include oral histories and community conversations - digital taping of individual oral histories and community engagement gatherings, reflecting The evidence-based birmingham historical narrative with guest speakers, community members, and visitors arts and cultural programs for The public celebrating and connecting this cultural and historical legacy conducting research for upcoming educational programs and presentations - continued research on birmingham historical milestones in The african american community from its founding through The civil rights era for use in planned historical exhibits and presentations for adults and students online programs and oral history clips provided to The public online during 2022, focusing on birminghams african american contributions and legacies of resilience during The era of jim crow.
