Delivering resources to The Bronx Community via four pillars of sustainability: Community, equity & justice, economic security, and health.in december/january 2023, bxcf hired hester street to plan and conduct Community engagements through The borough for strategic planning. The goal was to develop a community-driven needs assessment and report to inform bxcf's strategic plan to build a Bronx Community Foundation for, by and all about The Bronx. We worked with non-profit organizations to co-design and co-host The sessions to over 1,000 Bronx residents. These sessions were held over The spring and summer of 2023. In spring 2023, bxcf launched The bxcf equity and justice grant/asylum seekers application for non-profit organizations to receive funding to provide assistance to individuals and families seeking asylum. The grant funding priorities were: legal services, wrap-around support services and housing support. Bxcf granted $25,000 to 5 organizations in june 2023. In fall 2023, bxcf launched a community-driven, participatory grants portfolio providing financial resources to Bronx organizations to build capacity, fund innovative programs and address social and economic challenges that address housing, health care, food security, education, job, career skills and digital equity. Bxcf granted $25,000 to 14 organizations in december 2023.
