Description
The Bronx Freedom Fund helps indigent clients in the South Bronx, New York avoid the consequences of pretrial detention since the overwhelming majority are facing nonviolent, misdemeanor charges. Pre-trial detainees face worse case outcomes than those who aren't detained. While comprehensive bail reform eliminated cash bail for most charges as of January 1, 2020, BFF temporarily ceased bailing out new clients on that date. Nevertheless, BFF continued to operate in order to support those still in its program.
