Program areas at CHOICES

Cooking with CHOICES offers Family Workshop cooking classes to teach families how to prepare healthy meals as a family. Each series consists of three to six cooking classes. We use the National Institutes of Health's We Can! and the American Diabetes Association for guidance. Snack & Story Time cooking classes offered to children as an artistic way to make healthy snacks. Once the snack is made they are treated to live story telling. STEM elements are incorporated to connect to current topics of their class instruction.
The Thanksgiving Turkey Basket & Food Giveaway Event occurs annually so that families can have healthy food to eat during the holiday when school is closed. Our goal is to provide Thanksgiving dinner but to also give them enough fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and groceries to last a week.
The C.H.O.I.C.E.S. Mobile Food Pantry Distribution addresses food insecurity and the lack of access to healthy, affordable food in predominantly Black/African-American communities. Our monthly pantries occur in multiple low-income communities where our target populations lives. In 2022, we distributed 503,771 pounds of healthy food via our monthly mobile pantries
