In 2023, Chance Theater engaged audiences with ticketed performances and subscriptions to a variety of productions, including: ride The cyclone, colonialism is terrible, but pho is delicious, matinicus: The story of abigail burgess, rent, The curious incident of The dog in The night-time, The secret garden, The musical, fancy nancy, The musical , and fancy nancy: splendiferous christmas.
Chance's on The radar (otr) new works program includes a script reading series, a playwright residency, and a commissioning program--all dedicated to supporting diverse new stories by emerging u.s. playwrights. In 2023, we invited audiences to engage with The development process through ticketed events and subscriptions featuring The following new works: exotic deadly: or, The msg play, cheese, The musical, The bed trick, norine & The king of swatsville , and such small hands.
Chance's speak up program empowers local teens--including those at risk and on The autism spectrum--to find their voices and share their unique stories. By giving them The opportunity to speak, we gain The Chance to listen, building understanding that leads to greater empathy. Through this program, we strive to create a more connected, compassionate, and creative community. Thanks to The generosity of our sponsors, all participants receive full scholarships.
Booked-in events: hosted events featuring local artists, including open mic nights and new play workshops.
