Program areas at The Civilians
During The Civilians' 2022-23 season, we employed and supported 151 artists, engaged 4,553 audience members, and reached an additional 11,000 digitally through our special projects and online journal. Season activities included two mainstage productions: the NYC premiere of "The Unbelieving" by Marin Gazzaniga and "What You Are Now" by Sam Chanse. The season also featured the Michael Friedman Recording Project with four new album releases, representing the work of 100+ artists and achieving 82,800 online streams for 20,200 listeners across 119 countries. We expanded our Cabaret Series through a residency with WNYC featuring three performance dates and presented "Black Girl in Paris" at Joe's Pub. The R&D Group's efforts culminated in the Findings Series, engaging 57 artists and reaching an audience of over 300.
