Secure commitments/partnerships from local businesses to employ young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities; meet with management at the company to carve out a position for a young adult with a disability; trainings for staff to introduce initiative and prepare work site; promote community inclusion and raise awareness.
Director: review mastery of skills; liason between employee and employer; supervise, train and support Employment Specialists that provide supported employment services; ensure integrity of the of the Customized Employment model and satisfactory delivery of service.
Supported employment services: skills and interests assessment; pre-employment training; interview preparation; on-site and off-site job coaching customized to the needs of the employee and employer; follow-ups with employee and employer to address evolving needs; facilitate peer group meetings; and individual and group counseling sessions by a Mental Health Practitioner.
On-the-job training (OJT) to assist participants (young adults with disabilities) to adapt to the employment environment while gaining valuable work experience. Most times the OJT leads to permanent employment at the work site.
