Program areas at The Digdeep Right To Water Project
Community-led Water projects increase access To safe drinking Water, appropriate wastewater treatment, and improved hygiene. Some highlights from 2022 include: 1. We installed 290 home Water systems on The navajo nation and delivered 1,546,445 gallons of safe Water To families without any access To piped Water infrastructure. 2. We oversaw construction of waterlines To 72 plots of land in el paso county, Texas To provide first-time piped Water access To families. 3. We oversaw construction of Water and/or sewer service lines To 112 households in rural southern west Virginia To ensure reliable access To piped Water and/or wastewater treatment. 4. We made grants To grassroots individuals and small organizations totaling $591,486 To expand their impact in providing Water, sanitation, and hygiene services To their communities.
Education and research projects help americans learn about The Water and sanitation access gap and find The tools To solve this crisis. Highlights from 2022 include: 1. We participated in and led workshops at numerous conference including world Water week, uswa, sciens, gwa, and we hosted a convening of 15 organizations To spearhead collective action To solve The us Water and wastewater crisis. 2. We raised awareness through media about The us Water access gap and its impact of people living without running Water on The navajo nations, in west Virginia, and in Texas colonias, and what will be required To solve The crisis. 3. We published a momentous report, draining: The economic impact of american's hidden Water crisis, which identified The allowing The Water gap To persist is costing The us economy $8.58 billion each year and presented The findings in a briefing for The white house.
