The Earth Genome exists to ensure that key decision makers consider the full value of nature and consequences of their activities to avoid economic and social disruptions from mismanagement. The earthrise program focuses on ensuring The broad availability of satellite imagery to track environmental changes on The planet. It aims to create a new social awareness of planetary change. Recent work has included global plastics watch and climate trace.
The water program continued with work in multiple geographies and focus areas. Most notably, in 2023 we continued our grat (groundwater recharge assessment tool) work with The broader team led by ca dwr. The objective of grat is to define The best available locations (spatial) and timing (temporal) for The recharge of underlying groundwater aquifers. This type of groundwater recharge is a key solution within California to address The underlying drought conditions consistent with The sustainable groundwater management act.
