PROJECT RECHARGE: A HANDS-ON, PROJECT BASED S.T.E.A.M. CURRICULUM AND TRAINING PROGRAM DEDICATED TO EDUCATING AND PREPARING STUDENTS TO BECOME FUTURE SUSTAINABILITY LEADERS BY SOLVING REAL-WORLD PROBLEMS. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES TEACHERS WITH THE CLASSROOM RESOURCES AND TRAINING TO EQUIP THEIR STUDENTS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, INDUSTRY CONNECTIONS, AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED TO BECOME SUSTAINABILITY DETECTIVES AND INSPIRE THEM TO PURSUE CAREERS IN S.T.E.A.M. SECTORS. THIS YEAR, WE HAVE ADDED FIVE NEW DISTRICTS, INCORPORATING 56 NEW TEACHERS AND 12 NEW SCHOOLS. THE PROGRAM HAS ENGAGED 4,212 STUDENTS FROM GRADES 4th-12th AND INVESTED $37,132 IN CLASSROOM RESOURCES. A TOTAL OF 8 STUDENT PROJECTS ARE SLATED FOR IMPLEMENTATION.
Introduce a girl to engineering day (iged): part of a national event dedicated to encouraging girls to consider a career in engineering. Envirolution partners with tesla to give middle school girls throughout The country The opportunity to see a behind-the-scenes tour of tesla's facility, participate in hands-on activies, and learn about a variety of engineering careers along with The inspiring women behind them. Through this event, thousands of girls have been able to engage with activites highlighting The engineering design process. 2023 marked The 6th consecutive year offering both in- person and virtual experiences. The virtual event saw over 3,000 registrations from 42 countries and 43 states, offering participants exclusive virtual tours and insights from women at tesla. Career quest: a collaborative program that connects Nevada businesses to their future workforce by exploring workplace science, technology, engineering, art, and math (steam) and sustainability career opportunites. Through engaging presentations, industry tours, and hands-on activites, students are introduced to The benefits of steam education and local career opportunities available. Career quest provides steam career development for students by connecting learned steam concepts with real-world business applications, which impacts student perceptions of career possibilities while also making it easy for businesses to engage with their development. Through 56 events, 1,482 students from 26 schools across 9 school districts participated in career quest and interacted with 21 businesses, including industry giants like tesla and apple, and heard presentations from 18 diverse professionals.
