Funded professor wang's village libraries project eef initiated transfer of funds to The peking university Education Foundation. Board member professor lili luo received a sabbatical from san jose state university to design an impact assessment model as part of The household reading project. Lili and prof. wang reached consensus on timelines for initial steps; one village was selected to pilot The creation of The impact model.
Collaborated with one of Evergreen's main partners, The li geng sheng project of peking university. Additionally, Evergreen coordinated The usa side of student international projects. In 2023, eef provided support for 3 projects: partnering with The li geng sheng project (lgs) in china and ednova academy in The usa, Evergreen developed a stem challenge for kids in china and in parallel with usa students. This challenge was modeled and adapted from The content and instruction from The 2022 fluor challenge created by science buddies. Eef and lgs also collaborated with three high school students to bring robotics to tonghe primary school, shacheng no.4 middle school, and tongfu south street no.1 middle school. The three high school students created a curriculum for The six-week long workshop which introduced students to The engineering design process, which is a structured approach of problem solving by developing creative solutions based on The failures of past iterations. After completing several guided exercises in building a basic robot and programming with sensor input, students were tasked with completing some missions on their own. The students exhibited high levels of engagement and demonstrated creativity and perseverance in their work. Evergreen granted part of material and activity costs for 2 projects by professor wang, which covered more than 100 stem activities in 14 libraries in rural china.
Approved funding for The community parenting and play center project: yunnan tengchong early childhood development program to begin in 2024. This project will be implemented by The international humana people to people movement (hpp) through its yunnan representative office in china. The main objectives are to support The early childhood development of children between 1-6 years of age in rural areas through The establishment of parenting and play centers in 2 local villages, The recruitment and training of dedicated instructors in each local village and The implementation of early childhood development activities with at least 60 children, parents and family members. The funding will be provided in a total of 45,000 in two installments of equal amounts. The board will receive and review two reports per year as well as assistance in setting up site visits.
