Program areas at The Farm Collaborative
Farm Park - an educational facility, operated as a public space open to all, demonstrating neighborhood and community scale sustainable food,garden, and livestock systems managed in an integrated way. 11,100 lbs of produce from .9 acres including cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, carrots, garlic onions, leeks herbs, and celery. New this year was melons.2,000 dozen eggs; 1,000 lbs of lamb.
Summer Camp Programs - research demonstrates that growing food is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect children to nature and to get people outside. Programs include the following: Earth Keepers Community Day Camp (ages 5-11); Eco-Apprenticesip program (ages 11 and up).2022 Enrollment numbers are as follows 25 kids per week, 265 children participated for six hours each day, over the summer (July through August)for the Earth Keepers Community Day Camp Program and 42 children for Eco-Apprenticeship Program.Other Programs include Mindful Mornings summer program; Earth Scouts, ages 6 to 11, after school program; and, Farmyard and Me for infants to 5 years of age.
Production of award winning Edible Aspen magazine that highlights local stories on topics relating to the magazines mission focus on climate, soil, and kids; 4 issues, two feature issues and two user manuals. Annual distribution for 2022 was 16,000 copies, 1,000 direct mailing.
Events held at the Farm Park, and on line include the following: Earth Day Celebration held online reaching over 2,000 subscribers providing information and activities to do at home and outside; Adventures in Place online program delivering fun, nature based activities, and thought provoking information. THe Farm to Fridge event gave away farm fresh food to serve 1,500 people distributing 4,320 lbs of food ($9,985 of food purchased by the Organization from 8 local farmers) Other Programs include The 2 Forks Club loaning money to local farmers. Farmer support programs such as a tool library.
