Program areas at The Friends of Chabot College
The Friends of Chabot College (fcc) supports Chabot College programs and students through philanthropic activities, such as fundraisers, scholarships and emergency aid opportunities. The fcc has distributed large amounts of direct emergency aid to students since 2020 in The form of direct cash aid, laptops and hotspots. Chabot students receiving aid had higher success rates and retention rates than students who did not receive aid. The fcc also held its annual gala fundraiser raising over 50,000 that went to support Chabot programs and scholarships. The fcc also received over 500 scholarship applications and awarded over 90,000 in scholarships to Chabot students.
The fcc continues to collaborate with College staff to raise funds for College programs, sponsor events in The community, and engage with community partners to expand The reach and awareness of Chabot programs and services. The fcc contributed over 5,000 for sponsoring multiple community event and fundraisers including sponsoring each k-12 education foundation in our service area.
In 2023, The fcc continued to partner with The College and other local organizations to award increasing amounts of emergency aid. The fcc held its gala which raised over 50,000 while celebrating some of Chabot's most successful alumni, corporate partners and College leadership. Scholarships continue to be awarded each year and alumni programming is expanding to include over 200 new alumni association members and monthly alumni events.
