Program areas at The Friends of the Museum School Foundation
The funds we raise support many essential programs at the Museum School. Our students thrive in an environment that is rich in the Arts, foreign language, physical education and field trips that augment what is being taught in the classroom. All students participate in the World Music program, attending music class two times per week with specialized music instructors. Our Spanish program enables all students to attend Spanish classes three times per week with a designated Spanish teacher. We have a full-time Physical education teacher who provides physical education twice per week in the elementary grades and daily in the middle school. We offer a strong Art program with a full-time Art teacher providing art classes two times per week to all students, as well as a sewing program, where students attend sewing class once per week and complete special projects. Of significant importance is that the Museum school employs Teacher's Aides in every classroom, allowing for two teachers in every classroom, making the teacher to student ratio outstanding. We've also been able to maintain smaller class sizes in Kindergarten and First grade and provide special education programs. Additionally, funds are used to sponsor kids who cannot afford 6th grade camp or the 8th Grade trip to San Francisco. In other words, this money raised by FOMS is used for all the programs that make this school so amazing, unique, and special!
