The Gems Camp's mission is to increase minority women's STEMS degrees. It arranges a one-week residential summer camp in Dallas Fort Worth where girls are introduced to the 5 Karat Gems Curriculum Framework, engaging them and boosting their confidence while making friends. Additionally, The Summer eCamp Experience is a personalized bling box sent to every gem's front door, providing a Covid-friendly environment where they can apply math and science concepts in an engaging digital experience with certified teachers, peer mentors, and interactive learning.

Program areas at The GEMS Camp

The partnership with the City of Dallas MLK, Jr. Community Center included free classroom programming space to launch an innovative out-of-school STEM program that targets underrepresented and underserved minoritized girls living in or near the 75210 and 75215 zip codes. It is the first and only STEM-based, girl-centric nonprofit in South Dallas founded and/or led by an African American woman. The programming space was launched in September 2023 and served out-of-school STEM program to area girls Monday-Thursday and Saturday.A featured program of the club is girls participated in a National Science Foundation-funded project with Southern Methodist University Simmons School of Education and Human Development researchers.Two summer camps were held, Texas Southern University in Houston , TX and Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. The camp serviced 80 middle school underrepresented and racially minoritized girls from across the state.
