Program areas at The General Henry Knox Museum
2022 was a year of rebuilding. All programming was done in The context of our mission statement. We hosted 2700 tour guests each month for three months. We held several community events, opening The season with boots on The ground, our annual community military event. We laid The foundation for a junior docent program, held multiple lectures and concerts, and conducted a successful essay contest with middle grade students.
Our summer interns are an integral part of our continued efforts to educate all who are interested in learning more about General Henry Knox, The american revolution, The settlement of Maine, and our military services. During 2022, we had two interns working with us, learning The basics of Museum administration and assisting with our programs.
The Museum continued its work to preserve montpelier, a national register of historic places property, as well as The conservation of its significant collection of 18th century objects. We also continued development collaborations with other nonprofits and area businesses to ensure a higher profile for The Museum's role in Maine tourism. We attended and contributed to programs offered by Maine archives and museums, Maine tourism office and The new england Museum association.
