Emerging Leaders ProgramThe ELP strengthens students' core writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills. Emerging Leaders engaged in unique learning and mentoring opportunities that correspond to their personal development and leadership capabilities. Twenty two of the nation's best and brightest college leaders were selected from a rigorous application process, our largest class to date. Professional writers instructed students in the writing process to elevate their professional and technical writing. Empowered students to become more effective leaders through seminars that focused on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, leadership styles and the importance of integrity and trust, merits of self-sufficiency and tips on how to successfully lead a team.Engaged students in daily exercises that improved their critical thinking skills to solve complex problems and become solutionists. Field experts facilitated discussions with our students to engage in conversations regarding education policy. Empowered students to become financially literate through workshops that provided insights and tips to understand and make informed and effective decisions about their personal financial management, budgeting and investing. Presented student leaders with a series of dynamic career workshops led by experts that focused on the importance of your personal brand, social media, professional networking, and best practice instructions for dining etiquette. Student leaders learned the critical role that grooming and styling plays in their professional brand and leadership development. Instructors were well-known stylists and barbers. Incorporated holistic healing practices including group yoga to strengthen students minds and bodies, while team building. Moton ForumTGI celebrated Juneteenth with an inaugural cookout on the lawn. Attendees included community leaders, stakeholders, local churches, local and state media outlets. More than 200 people joined us for the occasion and it set the stage for a larger event in 2024. TGI provided a place of respite for national leaders to visit, relax, learn the history of all the significant happenings that took place on the grounds. These special guests are thought leaders, executives, community organizers, and heads of national organizations who use the property as a space to write, organize, strategize, and engage in meaningful dialog. In addition to the programming we provide for college students, this year more than 300 area high school students visited the campus for guided tours. They learned about the founding of the United Negro College Fund that was established on these grounds and this history of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Robert Patterson, Dr. Robert Moton and other notables who frequented the campus.
