Program areas at The Green Door Initiative
Workforce: training program that focuses on delivering comprehensive training to increase The number of disadvantaged and underrepresented workers in areas such as renewable energy, environmental remediation/restoration, construction, hazardous materials/waste handling and emergency response. During The year, The program trained 60 workers with a 92% job placement rate.
Tech hub: workforce development program where students receive basic digital literacy skills training to use in The workforce and their personal lives. During The year, 70 people from The community and 50 students were served in The program.
Youth program: provides participants with hands-on community projects, inspiring guest speakers from The field, and opportunities for job shadowing, allowing them to gain real world experience and insights into potential career paths.
Air quality monitoring program: focuses on outreach, education, and training on air quality, alongside installing air monitors. During The year, 15 monitors were installed and assessments were made in four childcare centers.
Motor city to solar city: project focusing on revitalizing, rebuilding and restoring detroit by promoting environmental and climate justice, providing full and fair access to training and preparing residents for employment in The "Green collar" sector.
