The Gull Lake Sailing School

Gull Lake Sailing School is a volunteer-based educational organization dedicated to promoting safe and responsible amateur Sailing, The improvement and refinement of Sailing skills, and The teaching of principles of lifesaving and water and boat safety. The Gull Lake Sailing School has been teaching kids and adults to sail for more than 50 years.the School runs a six-week summer program of youth Sailing instruction in both The morning and afternoon. The program is divided into sessions of 1-week duration. Students range in age from 6-18, and we serve approximately 50+ students each summer. The Sailing School also offers adult Sailing lessons in both group and private lesson formats.glss partners with area nonprofits to offer educational and recreational programs to benefit The community. In 2022 partners included The brainerd family ymca, The national loon center, The brainerd lakes community foundation and The lakes area music festival. These programs served over 150 youth and adults.glss also hosts three Minnesota dnr boat safety classes. Approximately 70 youth were served.

Glss is The home of The brainerd area junior and high School Sailing team. This co-ed team serves students grades 7-12 from multiple area schools under The brainerd flagship. The team is affiliated with The midwest interscholastic Sailing association. Approximately 11 students participated. The program offers competitive Sailing in both The spring and The fall.
