Program areas at The Hardy Foundation
To preserve historic and/or architecturally significant structures by acquiring, rehabilitating, and keeping such structures in a condition so that they may be viewed by The general public. To promote interest and understanding of The historical sites and The development of The history of The surrounding areas, and to preserve historically important and geographically diverse land areas by acquiring, conserving and otherwise making such areas available for public use.
To educate The general public on The historical value of The property. To promote interest in and knowledge of The historical and architecturally significant structures and historically important and geographically diverse land areas by conducting tours of such structures. To allow The use of such land areas by The public for educational research purposes.
To support charitable organizations by providing The periodic use of historical structures and historically important and geographically diverse land areas without charge to The organization for charitable purpose.
Rent represents lease income from contracts entered into between The Foundation and third party lessees. The leased property is real property contributed to or purchased by The Foundation for historical preservation. The assets are devoted to The exempt purpose of The private operating Foundation. The rents received in addition to contributions, gifts and grants received from The general public are The Foundation's primary sources of support. The funds are used to preserve The historical structures in a manner similar to that for which The structures were originally intended. By making these structures accessible to The public, The Foundation is educating The public on The importance of historic preservation.
