Program areas at The Human Impact
The organization's method of connecting with The homeless community is to create a friendship. The organization goes into various neighborhoods where over 1000 homeless people live. The organization hosts birthday parties and funerals, takes people to The doctor, helps people get into addiction recovery programs, helps people get identification, among other things.
The Human Impact spent 54 hours each month visiting friends on The streets and 112 hours each month on advocacy activities. By The end of 2022, we had met or knew by name 300 friends experiencing long-term homelessness.
Advocacy is The organization's primary program of supporting The chronically homeless through friendship and advocacy. The Human Impact team of advocates befriend and build relationships with The unhoused, help guide and connect them to resources, provide life plans and path plans, and help support them with accountability.
The Human Impact held feet washing events, in which we washed The feet of those experiencing homelessness and provided them new socks and tennis shoes. We held a street side salon event where we provided haircuts and styles to The homeless. The Human Impact held meet The need campaigns which raised money to be used as gifts for much needed items to The currently and formerly homeless. We also hosted lunches to provide hot meals and bring together those unhoused and housed.
