Program areas at The Human Life Foundation

PUBLICATIONS: THE HUMAN LIFE REVIEWThe Human Life Review is a quarterly publication presenting scholarly articles concerning the importance and inviolability of human life at every stage and in every circumstance, and to foster reverence for the inherent dignity of all human life however threatened or impaired.2,100 copies each of four quarterly issues of the Human Life Review, Winter 2023, Spring 2023, Summer 2023 and Fall 2023 were printed and mailed to subscribers, congresspersons and bishops. All issues are offered for sale on our website. Also, free digital subscriptions to the Human Life Review were made available to all seminarians at various seminaries in the United States. In addition free print subscriptions were made available to the various seminary libraries in the United States and English-speaking countries. About 200 digital subscribers are receiving the Human Life review via our website. 184 copies of the Summer 2023 issue were distributed to the guests at The Human Life Foundation's annual dinner and about 150 copies of various issues were distributed at our various events.
SEMINAR PARTICIPATION:On January 19th,2023 Maria Maffucci, attended a seminar at The National Press Club in Washington, DC hosted by Feminists Choosing Life of NY. Part one of this two part series discussed Rights & Responsibilities in contemporary Sex Culture. The guest speakers were Erika Bachiochi, Christine Emba and Destiny De la Rosa.On February 11,2023, Maria Maffucci, attended the second part of the seminar at the National Press Club in Washington, DC hosted by Feminists Choosing Life of NY. The topic discussed by Louise Perry, Helen Roy and Alisia Chase was The Future of Intimacy After Dobbs.From March 3rd to March 5th, The Editor in Chief, Maria Maffucci, and Christina Angelopoulos, the managing editor, attended a Pro-Life Women Leaders' retreat in Nashville, TN. The event was organized by New Wave Feminists and hosted by a movie actress who is a pro-life supporter. Thirty leaders from many other pro-life organizations attended as well as TV and magazine journalists, podcasters, actors and a state representative. The goal was to spend intensive days getting to know what we do and then brainstorming strategies and alliances. On March 30th and 31st, Maria Maffucci attended the National Review Institute Summit in Washington, DC. The two day summit invited speakers to discuss education, healthcare innovation, the military, respect for life, sources of American strength, American leadership abroad, rules of law and free enterprise as well as many other topics.On May 17, 2023 Maria Maffucci attended a seminar hosted by The Sheen Center For Thought and Culture in New York City, titled the Art of Controversy: Women and the Church, moderated by Gloria Purvis. On August 8th and 9th, Maria Maffucci attended an educational meeting with pro-life leaders in New York State at the Renaissance Hotel in Albany, NY organized by Feminists Choosing Life of NY to discusss the upcoming ERA amendment proposal which would enshrine abortion-on-demand in the New York State constitution. On August 11th and August 12th, Maria Maffucci attended the 2023 First Things Intellectual Retreat, "Creation and Fall" which took place at the Union League Club of New York in New York City. The discussions centered around understanding where we have come from, what we can know of ourselves or what we are meant for? It offered participants the chance to turn their attention more fully to first things. Through dialogue undertaken in a common quest for wisdom, participants will consider readings from Scripture and classic texts from the Western tradition, including modernity reappraisal of these works.On November 8th Maria attended an event hosted by The Dispatch at the Liberty in New York City to watch the debate and after the debate to participate in a discussion for a live podcast.
WEBSITE OUTREACH:The Human Life Foundation continued its website program at www.humanlifereview.com and posts the entire current issue of the Human Life Review for website viewers to read once, as well as making available the previous issues in the archive section. We also developed new digital subscriptions and offer free trial copies of The Human Life Review. In addition, a master index of all articles published in The Human Life Review for the past 49 years, from 1975 through 2023 is now provided and articles can be ordered either on line, by mail or telephone. Also, on the website we are offering for purchase some of our booklets, annual subscriptions and a donation program to assist our various pro-life activities. Our website hits have grown significantly. We also post weekly blogs on our website written by various authors who are knowledgeable in the subject matters. We also post a weekly column titled "Pastoral Reflections" which is written by members of the clergy. We also post a column called Newsworthy that appears several times a month which usually addresses a current topic in the news which is written by various knowledgeable authors.Both Facebook and Twitter sites have been maintained by the Human Life Foundation with new blogs relating to current events written by senior editors and other knowledgeable writers posted weekly on the sites.
