Program areas at The Institute for Innovation

Conducting and promoting research activities to collect and analyze data on patient experiences and health outcomes in the US health care system to assess ways to improve quality, effectiveness, patient safety and efficiency, and to disseminate such data to health care providers and related entities. This is currently accomplished through quarterly meetings with the Founding Executive Council to collaborate on topics related to improving outcomes, seek feedback on early analytical findings in terms of relevance and usefulness to the market for sharing, and acting as a convener or facilitator to other researchers interested in finding collaborative partners (e.g., inviting orgs to participate in independently sponsored research, inviting organizations to contribute insight and information to external collaboratives such as the Healthcare Transformation Taskforce).
Conducting and sponsoring educational activities and knowledge sharing, such as lectures and conferences, involving expert speakers on topics related to improving health care quality, effectiveness and efficiency, reducing costs , and improving patient experiences. This is currently accomplished through work group virtual meetings sharing national findings and collaborating on how to best position those findings for publicly available resources and creating content to be shared freely on the institute's website to promote improvement (e.g., national findings, white paper case studies, annotated bibliographies).
