The Shedd Institute operates 2 cultural presenting series, a summer music festival, several self-produced concert series and regular musical theatre productions. Total served annually: ~60,000. [COVID-19 shutdown April-June 2020 resulted in truncation] - NOW HEAR THIS 2021-22: cultural presenting series: 31 concerts of all types: jazz, bluegrass, world music, folk, etc. - MR. TOM'S MAGICAL MOOMBAH 2021-22: 0 performances of 0 productions of a musical vaudeville for children. - SHEDD THEATRICALS 2021: 8 performances of 1 production of classic musical theatre/musical comedy. - SHEDD PRESENTS 2021-22: local artists presenting series: 17 performances of 8 productions- jazz, folk, & classical concerts. - SHEDD CLASSICAL 2021-22: The Shedd's art music series: 7 performances of 6 different concerts. - OREGON FESTIVAL OF AMERICAN MUSIC 2021: 14 historic jazz and popular music concerts, 5 lectures, 7 films, 1 community sing-alongs, etc. - OREGON FESTIVAL OF AMERICAN MUSIC 2022 Winter: 7 historic jazz and popular music concerts, 3 lectures, 4 films, 1 community sing-alongs, etc.
The Shedd Institute owns and operates a community-based performing and cultural arts facility for the purpose of creating and supporting spaces for accessible and diverse arts, cultural and educational activities in our community. Total served: approximately 45,000.
MUSIC EDUCATION: The Shedd Institute operates a year-round community music school offering private lessons, music classes, vacation music, camps, (Music & World Cultures). The school serves 425-525 students weekly with private lessons and classes. Our Road Scholar program serves 200-250 seniors with multi-day 6 cultural camps each year. Our Music & World Cultures program provides concerts to 12-14 elementary and middle schools annually, reaching 4,850+ students. During this final year of serious pandemic re-enrollment numbers were down to 123-140 students, school programs were suspended and Road Scholar programs were minimal.
