Program areas at The Kentucky State Police Foundation

The mission of the Kentucky State Police Foundation is to support the agency and its employees through partnerships with the community and the private sector to promote the interests of the Kentucky State Police in service to the citizens of the Commonwealth. Through the financial support of public and corporate partnerships, the foundation provides necessary equipment, training and other resources when normal funding streams are not sufficient. The Foundation performs community outreach and support to promote public confidence and understanding of police activities.
The Kentucky State Police Foundation was the recipient of an in-kind donation equivalent to $300,000 of engineering services/plans from Palmer Engineering, Lexington, KY for the construction of the $2.1million Driver Skills Pad project. There were no goods received for the donation. These services were an in-kind donation to reduce costs for the Foundation's project in support of the Kentucky State Police (KSP). Per IRS Form 990 instructions, the $300,000 donation is not reported as revenue or expense in Parts VIII and IX , respectively. This project will provide a 400 x 600-foot (5 acres) asphalt pad for KSP to train slow-speed driver actions, skid training, reverse maneuvers, and additional skills training for both new cadets and veteran Troopers alike. This facility will also be available for other state and local law enforcement agencies to use when not in use by KSP.
