Program areas at The Land Conservancy of New Jersey
Land acquisition programacquire Land for open space preservation, both independently and in partnership with government agencies. Land is acquired to expand Conservancy preserves, federal, state, county and local parkland and to protect watersheds, river corridors, ecologically significant wetland area and habitats, and retain agricultural lands.the Land Conservancy completed 11 projects in The year ended june 30, 2023, 72.58 acres in fee acquisitions and preserving 244.79 acres in farmland preservation easements.
Open space planningutilizing a diverse array of data, resource and local expertise, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey completes open space and recreation plans, comprehensive farmland preservation plans and trails and greenways plans that identify Land for recreation, conservation, and agricultural preservation. Throughout New Jersey, these planning efforts represent a partnership of state, county, and local agencies each dedicated to ensuring our landscape remains green, our water resources are pure, and our local food supply plentiful.
Partners for parksland stewardship program which works to maintain preserved Land in perpetuity by organizing and directing customized community service projects for corporate and civic volunteer groups to improve and maintain recreational areas while building a corps of advocates for parks. Services are provided to federal, state, municipal and non-profit park managers.during The year ended june 30, 2023, 2 projects in 2 northern New Jersey counties were completed with The help of 22 volunteers.
