The Last Kilometer Corporation

The Last Kilometer was The nonprofit sponsor of The water box, a program to provide community organizations in flint, Michigan with clean, safe water to distribute to residents. The Last Kilometer developed The program and managed its implementation, which included: designing and building four water boxes, working to place them with community organizations, training, operations and maintenance. Once in place, The water boxes were used to distribute over 50,000 gallons of clean water and 2,000 reusable jugs to The residents of flint. The program reduced The cost and waste of depending on single-use plastic water bottles, and serves as a model for other communities facing a water crisis to implement.

The Last Kilometer helped to develop a curriculum for The western hemisphere institute for security cooperation on The topic of resource scarcity and how it leads to conflicts in developing countries. This program was taught to military officers from latin american countries as part of a training program to identify and reduce conflicts in their communities over resources made scarce by climate change.

Working in partnership with greenlancer energy and The ccm group, The Last Kilometer supported The deployment of solar energy projects to thousands of homeowners, businesses, community organizations across The united states. Our focus was on making solar photovoltaics and resiliency more affordable to communities of color and for communities facing The impacts of climate change, such as puerto rico.
