Program areas at The Lawyers' Campaign for Equal Justice
The annual fund and grants to legal aid - more than 2,000 Oregon lawyers and related individuals and organizations made contributions to The Campaign to support Oregon's statewide legal aid programs. Legal aid provides civil legal services to low-income oregonians in areas such as domestic violence, housing, income maintenance and consumer-related issues. Approximately 230 volunteers assist in The Campaign's activities.
Other funding initiatives - The Campaign seeks to expand resources for legal aid programs through state and federal funding and by assisting legal aid efforts to obtain foundation support. The Campaign builds grassroots support for state and federal funding among its donors and supporters, and provides marketing materials, client stories, and talking points highlighting The work of legal aid in support of these efforts. The Campaign reaches out to funds and foundations for grant funding, and also supports legal aid in its efforts to obtain foundation funding and grants.continued on schedule o.the accompanying form 990 does not reflect The increases in state and federal funding, and The foundation and fund support that have accrued directly to legal aid as a result of The broader fundraising initiatives and efforts of The Campaign and its volunteers on behalf of Oregon's legal aid programs. These additional receipts do not flow through The Campaign's financial statements and have been recorded directly by The nonprofit organizations benefited.
Education and outreach - educating lawyers and The community about access to Justice and how legal services for low-income oregonians are delivered is a key program of The Campaign. The Campaign educates The community at events, seminars held at law firms and bar association meetings, and through newsletters and publications. The focus is on The barriers low-income oregonians face in accessing legal help when faced with civil legal problems.
